Air gap at switch with canopy module and smart fan switch

The wiring diagrams for Inovelli Canopy Module and Smart Switch suggest I connect the canopy directly to power and not inline with the switch. I’m sure this will work, but it means the air gap at the switch will not cut the power to the fan like I’d expect.

I have the white series. Power goes to the box on the ceiling as pictured here. No neutral at switch

Possible to wire such that the air gap on the switch using smart fan mode still cuts power to the fan?

No.

The reason Inovelli specifies that power should not be fed to the canopy module via the load terminal is that if you have both the light and the motor connected to the canopy, neither the fan switch nor the dimmer support both type of loads.

In your case, you can’t anyway. But even if you theoretically could, you shouldn’t to avoid issues like switch damage, safety, ect.

In your case, cut power at the breaker.
