Bypass with multiple fixtures (3-way no neutral)

I have four recessed lights controlled by a single 3-way switch setup. I.e., I flip one of the two switches, and all four lights toggle. My switches have no neutrals in the box. I tried installing an Inovelli blue 2-1 switch + aux switch according to the wiring diagram for no-neutral, but I got flickering. I see that this means I need a bypass, however, I can’t find any information on installing a bypass with multiple fixtures.

  1. Do I need to go up into my attic and wire the bypass across all the fixtures? Or can I just install the bypass in a single fixture, just accessing the box from my living space?
  2. If the latter, then I want to confirm how to do that. The lights I’m using are Philips Hue can light retrofits. There’s a connector with an E26 base at one end to screw into the can, with two wires running to a piece that plugs into the light. To install the bypass, do I just (1) cut those two wires, (2) splice each of them back together with 3-wire wagos, and (3) insert each of the bypass wires into the remaining slots on the wagos?

(If anyone’s wondering why I want smart switches and smart lights, it’s so that I can change the color temperature on the lights, but maintain local control over brightness. Using Home Assistant adaptive lighting.)

You should be able to use just one bypass, at least at first, to see if that resolves the problem.

If you can go into the attic and identify the first can, great. Put the bypass there. But TBH, I’m not totally sure the bypass must be at the first light.

I don’t see any reason you can’t wire the bypass by splicing into one of the E26 adapters, since that is electrically the same as splicing it in at the can box. Wagos should work fine. One lead from the bypass to the switched hot and the other lead from the bypass to the neutral.
