How to open the back of vzw32sn

I got my Linus red series mmWave switches today. Long story short, the little plates that hold the wires stripped out under basically 0 pressure and I’d like to replace them with good ones.

the first switch stripped out before it even tightened onto the wire. the second switch, I knew it was coming and was extra careful. I was able to get the screws all tight enough so that the wires can’t be easily pulled out, but boy does it ever feel like the threads are ready to give up. I reckon I’d just pop the back off and swap the plates on all my switches if I could.

Anyone know if they’re glued or welded or can be non destructively serviced?

Thanks king. You’ve saved me a great deal of hassle!

It turns out it’s the screws that are cheese grade not the plates. Looks like the design was too clever for its own good.

If you email [email protected] they should be able to help with replacement screws.

One thing to keep in mind, don’t use a powered drill or an impact driver to adjust the screws, that tends to strip them out really quickly.

Also pay special attention to the texture on the pressure plates when removing and inserting screws, orientation matters. Maybe not much, but it does matter.

Note for anyone thinking of just ignoring a stripped screw. Clamping force matters a lot for electrical connections. If you have a screw that strips don’t just ignore it, always replace. You need proper clamping force to retain wire and make a good connection. Loose screws will result in a bad connection/heat/arcing.

Photo guide:
Step1: Remove these 4 screws

Step 2: Set lugs to the middle of range, if they are fully tight or fully loose things bind up.

Step 3: Pull halves appart

Step 4: replace/swap screws (most of the time traveler is unused so you can steal this to replace a stripped screw. NOTE the orientation, it does matter! The stamping is there to help pressure plate hold wire. If you put it in the wrong orientation you will not have the same resistance to pull out.
