I have a bunch of VTM31-SN dimmers throughout the house. New construction. I have a bunch of Eero Pro 6’s as my router and my thought was that could be my Thread hub.
I have (older) Google Home devices (display + mini speakers) that don’t have Thread border router capability. However, those are my primary smart home devices. I’d like to be able to use those to control my smart switches.
I first tried directly pairing the switches to Google Home. That initially worked (I’m guessing over bluetooth) but the connection quickly disconnected.
After some AI-assisted troubleshooting, I found that the Google Homes will be able to initially pair via bluetooth but will quickly lose the connection. And suggested I use Alexa to pair first, then share the control with Google Home.
So I reset all of the switches and tried to pair using Alexa. One of the switches worked. But after the first, Alexa cannot pair with any others (when searching for device after scanning the QR code, it times out. The switch light is pulsing blue).
Gemini tells me to pair using the Eero app directly since I have no Alexa devices (active) right now. But the Eero app doesn’t have anywhere I can use to add Matter devices.
Need some help on this one. I purchased these switches specifically because of how much people rave about them on Reddit. So far setup has been…painful.
