+1 for the Netherlands

I mean, I simply have to mention Czech Republic  But I’m afraid CZ is quite a small market, so…

From Greece here, I would absolutely love to have these in the house I’m currently building. So Greece, please .

+1 for Norway!

A lot of geeks with an interest in home automation here

Alright, this is coming together! I think we have a solid plan in place now, but stay on top of me if I don’t respond within a week or two while I wait for everything to be set up.

Here’s where I’m at:

  • The manufacturer has agreed to do the fulfillments from China
  • They were having a hard time figuring out the logistics of working with FedEx/DHL/etc to get favorable rates without securing a contract
  • I was able to reach out to a third party who handles the Shopify integration that calculates VAT at checkout and they have a partnership with FedEx/DHL with discounted rates (I may have mentioned them above)

So, here’s how the “flow” will go:

  • EU orders will go through our Shopify site
  • Manufacturer will get the orders and fulfill them as they come in using FedEx/DHL (whomever we finalize it with)
  • Orders will be shipped DDP (this was my biggest hurdle) so you all won’t have to pay any import fees when the package arrives (this will be calculated up-front at checkout via VAT)

What’s outstanding for me to complete:

  • I need to create a way for the manufacturer to get the order informaton for shipment – this can be done via Shopify, but I don’t necessarily want them to be overwhelmed with sorting through all the US/Canada orders, so I’m trying to figure out an easy way for them to only see EU orders. I’ve reached out to Shopify for confirmation on how to do this
  • I am waiting on updated product costs now that we have the logistics taken care of and VAT situation under control – now that the manufacturer doesn’t have to worry about figuring out contracts with shipping companies, this cost should be simple

Point number one is not urgent and will not hold up opening up pre-orders as I’ll have time to figure that out while they work on developing the product. Point number two is what I need to understand before pre-orders are opened. I would guess I’ll have an answer in a few business days.

All around good news!

Well that’s all fantastic news. I shouldn’t have been so pessimistic a month ago!

As further reassurance, I think that it’s fairly well accepted that things can be shipped directly from China, especially for specialised or niche tech products. So long as taxes are paid up front, which you’re doing, I expect most will be happy with this.

Another +1 from Norway!

+1 from Poland.

The two weeks have passed, any news?

+1 from Finland!

I’m in the process of moving to a new place so atm I’m dismantling my current home automation while also looking into options for my new place. I was researching Matter/Thread switches as I have to invest to new equipment anyway, and it seems like this is the future. Googling led me here and I can say that I’m very intrigued. This seems like the perfect product for me and I can’t wait to be able to order these.

Is this coming to Australia? We have very few Matter options and this would be a big hit!

Well, +1 Austria. But I think this shouldn’t be a big problem as Germany and Austria are neighbouring states and quite well connected

And a big thank you for pursuing this

Are there any other people in this thread that I need to include outside of those countries?

Yes, please include Hong Kong as well, which uses the same(to my knowledge) electrical system as the UK.
Plus drop shipping to Hong Kong directly would almost certainly cheaper than shipping it to the US and back to Asia.

+1 from Poland!

Another +1 from Norway!

Estonia too please!

stay on top of me if I don’t respond within a week or two

Ahem @Eric_Inovelli . I’ve been tracking this topic for 258 days. Do you think there is a chance my grandchilden will be able to buy your product in Australia? I can start teaching them now about “the grand inovelli switches”, of similar fame as tesla autopilot.

Or do we think this is a multi century timeline I should aim for and consider writing about the lore in stone or develop a small satellite in a large geostationary orbit that’s programmed to monitor this thread for updates and eject itself in grand fashion when they’re ready to ship?

Let me know and so I can get started on project planning :rocket::sparkles::new_moon:

The rule of thumb for any timeline provided by Inovelli is to multiply it by pi (π) for the actual date. They are a VERY small company, and this switch is not only brand new technology but also intended for brand new markets with their own financial, tax, and electrical regulations.

That being said, I paid for a pre-release Z-Wave multi-button switch back in early 2021 that was delayed by the chip shortage to the point where the design needed to go back to the drawing board with a newer chip and a new manufacturer. More recently, their promised motion-sensor switch also went back to the drawing board with a new sensor and manufacturer because early beta testing of the original design with the motion sensor chip that they were planning to use. Inovelli has been VERY open about all of the challenges with every product they’ve ever developed, and you will not see this from Tesla or any other company.

When either of these products actually ship, you can bet that they will be implemented correctly and everyone will love them.

As for developing your own satellite, have you booked a launch slot yet? I bet that the wait is longer than a Z-Wave multi-button switch, with everyone and their brother looking for cheap ride shares for their cube sats…

I’ve been following this thread for nearly a year and am excited to see where it leads!

I’m currently building my house and, unfortunately, had to settle on a Clipsal + Shelly workaround for all my smart lighting (50+ lights). But I hope these products (or similar alternatives) become available in Australia in the future. In my opinion, the Inovelli range offers the best smart switches any smart home. Keep up the good work guys, and as my devices fail hopefully I can replace them with these when they’re available here.

Hi there! Another +1 from Poland. Thank you for all the work, looking forward to placing the pre-order.
