Red Series on/off with bathroom exhaust Fan

I was looking through the documentation for the on/off switch and saw a warning that you should not use the switch with fans. I was planning on installing one in my bathroom for the exhaust fan (single speed). I was under the impression that any on/off switch could be used with a exhaust fan. Is there another reason these switches should not be used with a fan?
