Three-way with aux switch not working as expected.

Hello,

I current have this setup with a red series 2 in 1 on 1 side and a dumb 3 way switch on the other side wired like this.

The light works fine when turned on from the smart switch side, but it turns on and off rapidly when I used the dumb switch side. I was able to fix it by changing the maximum brightness setting.

But now I want to change the dumb switch with an auxiliary switch wired like this:

After I set all this up I get the LED to light up on the smart switch but I get no light at the fixture. I can see voltage on the load screw when tested with my multimeter.

The chandelier is too high for me to check the wiring in the box so the only thing I can think of is that the 12-3 wire must go through the fixture box and something weird is happening up there. Like maybe one of the wires change color.

Any advice for how to test this would be appreciated.

To isolate your issue, it’s best to proceed in stages. First, set it up as a 2-way and make sure that it works. Then, you can add the Aux.

Remove the 3 conductors from the 3-wire going to the other switch box and cap them off for now. Connect the Line (constant hot and neutral) to the line and neutral terminals on the Inovelli. For the neutral, connect a pigtail from the neutral to the switch.

You should have a 2-wire going to the light. Connect the black from that 2-wire to the load terminal and the white to the neutral. For the neutral, connect it to the white bundle you created for the pigtail to the switch.

Factory reset your switch to get it back to defaults. I should default to the 2-way switch mode.

Test to ensure the light is working properly and report back.

If the diagram you posted replicates your topology, then that’s probably not it. There is a 2-wire going to the light, so there is no logical reason for the 3-wire to go through the light box.

OTOH, if you don’t have a 2-wire going to the light, then you are relying upon an incorrect diagram.
