Overview
Please use this thread to comment on any updates needed for any Wiki article(s) or to suggest new articles.
Here’s how it will work:
If you notice a mistake in a Wiki thread or would like a thread added, please comment below
I will add it to the checklist at the bottom of this top thread for visibility
Someone (either staff or qualified community member) will edit the Wiki article if needed or will reply indicating there does not need to be a change with their reasoning
Once the Wiki is changed, I will edit your comment with a strike-thru and comment indicating we fixed the issue or it’s resolved
In addition, I will remove the comment/suggestion from the running list
Volunteers
We’d love any volunteers who would love to contribute to the Wiki. Feel free to reach out (I will also put a form to sign up shortly) to me directly or comment in this thread and I can add you to the list which I also plan on sharing in a separate thread.
Checklist
Below is a list of topics and corrections.
On Resources | Red Series Dimmer Switch - Manual in the “Firmware Info” > “Parameters” table, parameter 50’s default is listed as “7ms”. I think this meant to say either “7” or “700ms” instead.
Also, on that same table, the description for Parameter 51 is misleading. currently it says “0 = No delay, 1 = 700ms delay”. Shouldn’t “1” mean something else that is not specific to a 700ms delay? For example maybe “Delay is enabled; see parameter 50 to configure the delay’s duration”?
Thank you for your answer!
I do have a Hubitat hub and I am currently using the red series switches/dimmers. I have one of my red series switches that is defective/not working properly, and I see that they are currently sold out (and for quite a while now….don’t think they’ll ever be back in stock). I was wondering if I should go ahead and get the blue series to replace that switch. It will be a 3-way however. What do you recommend I do? Thanks again!!
If you haven’t already you may want to reach out to support regarding the defective switch. Depending on the issue(s) it may be possible to fix without a replacement, or if one is required there may be a support only stash for this purpose.
The SmartThings Edge Device Handler doesn’t have a way to configure Parameter 261 - Relay Sound.
Resources | Wiring Schematics , under “Zigbee Binding Method” says “DIRECTIONS COMING TONIGHT (OCT 24)”. It’s now November 5.
How To's | Setup Zigbee Binding - SmartThings says “we will walk through a few different scenarios where you’d want to use Zigbee binding: Switch to Bulb, Switch to Switch and Switch to Switch & Bulb.”, but only has an example for “Switch to Bulb”.
They seem wildly different, with different letters for different parts of the switch, different category labels, different lists of steps, and (for the 3rd image) completely different instructions (tap the paddle instead of config).
should there be a smart switch to 2+x Smart Bulbs section in How To's | Setup Zigbee Binding - SmartThings? In general, I can’t seem to find any documentation on zigbee groups for SmartThings. Is it simply not possible? If so, should that be said somewhere? Sorry for the n00b question.
Please select from the following drop-downs based on the number of smart bulbs you have:
I haven’t discovered how to group bind in ST Edge yet, but I have tried 3x bulbs with individual binding and it worked great for me. I’m not sure how it would hold up the more bulbs that get added.
The process to add more than one is the same each time you add an additional bulb.
So, I just paste in the zigbee ID into the appropriate settings field and then do the same to the next one? I think I did that and it bound 4 bulbs.
Proven is, now I can’t seem to UNbind them. I pasted in one if the ZigBee IDs into the unbind setting and afterwards the switch still seems to control that bulb.
That is the way that it is supposed to work. Did you have the endpoint in the endpoint field before putting the zigbee id in the remove field? You can quicky try again by changing the last character of the address in the unbind field, and then hit submit. Then change the character back to the correct one and hit submit again. It will only submit the request if the text is changed which is why you have to change it to something else and then change it back.
Also, make sure the same zigbee id is not in the “Bind Device” field at the same time or it will just try to add it back.
Eric, I just tried submitting all four of my zigbee IDs, one at a time, into the unbind device field in the switch settings. I then powered up the switch and all 4 bulbs turned on still. There was no entry in the Bind Device field while I did the unbinding.
What do you suggest next? I apologize for carrying on this conversation in this wiki post. Probably not the most appropriate place. Feel free to move or remove it later.
Thanks! Josh
