General tech geek. I’ve been implementing smart home stuff over the last 5-6 years, starting with a MyQ garage door controller and August door lock, and added a SmartThings hub shortly after that. I now have door sensors, door locks, motion sensors to automate lighting, water/leak sensors, water control valve, smoke/CO detectors, even pool lighting controlled by smart switches. Still haven’t found flexible blind controllers for vertical blinds that compell me to invest, but I keep looking. Now moving to a HomeSeer HomeTroller Pro after some SmartThings devices didn’t migrate to Edge drivers correctly. My goal is to have all automation manageable in one platform, whether Z-Wave, Zigbee, or WiFi, with local control and execution preferable, but ok with cloud integrations if the reliability is good. I have a number of Inovelli switches and dimmers, and I’m really interested to see how the M-Wave presence sensors perform (the PIR motion sensors seem hit or miss at times.)
