3-Way switch using another LZW31-N switch instead of an auxiliary switch

A few questions:

  1. Are there any special instructions to do this? Do I have to set parameters 21 and 22 any differently?
  2. Would I still be able to use all of the features of the dimmer switches in either of the places?

I have the same question but you asked it much better than I did. Please reply if you find an answer

Hey, yes this is possible (we’ve only tested this with a neutral wire) but there are some drawbacks.

There’s a knowledge base article here that outlines the pros and cons of wiring two smart switches together:

But to directly answer your questions:

Just follow the wiring diagrams and you should be set from an installation side. From a programming side, you’ll have to have a hub that supports direct Association (SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant, etc) as you’ll be essentially using the second switch as a remote.

The only thing that won’t work is the dimming bar indicator on the secondary switch. I’ve heard there are some workarounds for this but I haven’t tested them personally.

What hub are you using?

Hope this helps!
