Are the Blue Series 2-1 switches NEC compliant on a 20amp circuit?

Our apartment has all 20-amp breakers with 12 gauge wiring. I want to replace the switches with the Blue Series 2-1.

I’m having a hard time confirming if the Inovelli switches are NEC code compliant on 20-amp circuits with 12awg wire.

Regarding the loads on these, here’s what I’m looking at:

Some of the switches control light fixtures that have non-dimmable LED bulbs (and one is in a 3-way).

For the others, I would use them without a load and instead bind them to control other Zigbee devices.

All boxes have neutrals.

So if you look at NEC 404.14 et seq. (Rating and Use of Switches), it essentially dictates that the switch must be used within its load specifications. So as long as your load does not exceed the Inovelli load specifications, you are compliant with this section. So it’s not a question of if you are on a 15A or 20A circuit, it’s a question of is what you are controlling within the specifications of the switch.

I’d look at this as an Inovelli without a load is not a switch, it’s an end device. So 404.15 may not even apply. But if it does, no load is certainly within the switch’s load specifications.

Your local AHJ may differ, so you should also review their code.

Thanks, I checked the state and local code amendments for 404 and see the same as you described.
