I installed a blue switch with aux for a 3 way. The blue switch is turning on/off the lights, but the aux switch is not doing anything.
I’m using the wiring diagram with neutral that has the smart switch on the line side.
I have a setup where line and load are in different boxes. All wired as I think they should be. Blue switch seems to work fine, but the aux switch has no effect for either on or off. There are only 2 wires on the aux, one is neutral, so I’m pretty sure I didn’t mess that up. When they built the house they happened to use the correct color red wire for the traveler, so I’m positive I have that identified correctly.
Could I have a bad aux? Could it be a bad blue switch that isn’t recognizing aux? I’ve checked the Hubitat settings multiple times.
I guess I need to change the subject of this topic. The aux not working was my first symptom. Now I see I don’t have communication between my c-8 pro hub and the switch. It pairs successfully, even re-paired, but I can’t turn the switch on/off from Hubitat, only at the physical switch. If the switch isn’t getting commands then it probably didn’t get the command to go into aux switch mode.
Factory reset of blue switch. Paired. Pairing always works, but soon after pairing the Zigbee radio shuts down. It stayed up long enough this time to make me think it was working, but after about 30 minutes the Zigbee radio shut down and communication stopped. Querying radio strength at the switch shows red. I’m going to try another switch that I purchased a few months ago and haven’t installed yet. This one was new, received yesterday.
Installed another blue switch purchased in February. Same problem. How can the Zigbee radio be a problem, yet it pairs without issue. It just won’t communicate beyond the initial setup. If I’m quick, I can set preferences, but if I wait too long, all communication stops.
At the switch I query the Zigbee radio, it shows red, low or no signal strength. I have a Sonoff outlet right next to it, no issues.
Do I have multiple bad blue switches or could this be a driver issue? Driver dated 5/30/24, and this is the first time I installed it and am trying to use it. Or should I just give up on Zigbee and go back to red switches?
The more I work on this, the more confusing it gets. I may not have bad switches after all. This might be a Hubitat problem. I tried pairing on an old C-5 and the switch works as expected. Doesn’t work on my new C-8 Pro. I’ll head over to Hubitat for help.
