Best Switch Line for Homey Based System?

I want to purchase inovelli switches but im not sure which series switches to select. I just purchased a homey pro and plan to use a matter enabled Dali2 gateway for dali2 lights. I also currently have alexa based system with lifx led light strips.

Is there any reason I should choose Red series over white for a system with more longevity?

As far as I am aware, the Homey Pro supports all 3 standards and includes radios for each product line that Inovelli makes, so it is a matter of choosing one of them that has the availability and functionality that you need.

ZWave is good in that it uses a completely different frequency range than WiFi, and can support direct associations between devices, but if you end up wanting smart light bulbs for color/temp change, there isn’t nearly the selection as there is for Zigbee. Homey Pro appears to support direct associations between ZWave devices.

Zigbee runs in the same frequency band as 2.4GHz WiFi which can cause interference in some instances, but if you want a smart device, someone likely makes one that operates on Zigbee. There are a larger selection of smart light bulbs than either ZWave or Matter over Thread. Homey Pro also appears to support direct binding between Zigbee devices.

Matter over Thread also runs in the same frequency range as Zigbee, but since it is newer, there isn’t as large of a selection of devices, and since Homey Pro does not support direct binding of Matter over Thread devices, you can’t pair a MoT switch directly to a MoT smart light bulb.

The important thing to keep in mind, is that you can pick and choose between all 3 for whatever works best for that specific device. As far as switches go, if you intend to operate any smart bulbs, or utilize Inovelli’s Ceiling Fan Canopy Module, I would go with the Blue Series switches, especially as you are using the Homey Pro and you won’t be able to bind MoT devices together.

Another thing to keep in mind that each of these is a mesh system, meaning you need to have enough devices to reach across your home. You don’t want to buy one of a type of switch and use it far away from your Homey Pro base station if you don’t have enough of those same type of devices strengthen the signal. And, not all devices operate as repeaters/routers… usually they have to be line voltage powered, but that alone doesn’t guarantee that it will extend your signal. Be sure to keep that in mind when selecting devices. All of the Inovelli switches will act as a repeater for their standard, as will most brands of smart light bulbs and smart plugs. Battery powered buttons and sensors, on the other hand, likely won’t.
