Blue 2-1: possibility to set/reset last used brightness

I have a probably peculiar question/enhancement request. I would like the switch to remember the last brightness used, but only for a few hours/based on room occupancy, which requires a way to set automatically stored last used brightness.

Going through parameters available I see there is Parameter 13 - Default Level - Local & Parameter 14 - Default Level - Remote. However, there doesn’t seem to be a way to set/reset “last brightness” when params 13 & 14 are set to 255. I tried the following sequence while using Z2M:

  • set defaultLevelRemote
  • set brightness to 250
  • turn off
  • turn on => as expected turns on at 250
  • turn off
  • set defaultLevelRemote to 50
  • set defaultLevelRemote to 255
  • turn on

I was hoping the switch will turn on at 50, but it’s apparently smarter (ha!) and remembers the brightness of 250 separately. Is there a way to reset “last used brightness” when the light is off?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out! I will run this idea by our team to see if this is possible to do with the current firmware, and if not, I will get this added to our firmware enhancement idea list! Also, which smart hub are you using?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Maybe explain what you want to happen, because you say you want to use the last used brightness, but you actually seem to want to change the last used brightness to something else.

Maybe try setting the defaultLevelRemote to 50 then when you turn on the light set it back to 255.

A related/alternative request for my use cases around this same issue would be for the switches to be able to receive a brightness value in their off state without turning them on. Similar to the execute_if_off setting that my Ikea and Hue bulbs have for color settings.
