Every once in a while some of my Blue 2-1 switches stop working to turn light on (or off). If I press and hold the button, it will act like it’s dimming and then the light will turn on. The switch will then work normally for a while. After a while (sometimes a day, sometimes weeks) it will once again “forget” that it’s a toggle and will stop responding to single taps.
The switches in 3-wire setup with neutral, they are connected to SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus v2, and I’m using Home Assistant. Not sure how to even begin troubleshooting this.
Do you have your minimum set high enough so that the bulbs will not turn off when the down paddle is held down continuously? If you don’t have it set high enough, it’s possible to mistakenly hold the paddle down thinking the light is being turned off, instead of a single tap down. In that case, the switch is still ON even though the lights aren’t illuminated.
A long press down will not turn the switch off, no matter how long you hold it.
So now when you press the single tap up, the switch turns on, but at an output so low that bulbs won’t turn on, making you think it’s not working properly. If you do a long press up as you described, the switch will ramp up the load and the bulbs will illuminate.
Parameter 9, Minimum Level or Minimum Dim Level. It may be labeled differently depending upon your hub, but the parameter number is correct.
Set the minimum to the lowest value that it will take. Then turn the bulb on and start gradually dimming it until you determine the level at which the bulb goes out. Then set that minimum a couple of points above that.
Once you do this, it will adjust the dimming range to a pseudo range so that an indicated 1% will still illuminate the bulbs.
That sounds about right. Someone using HA should confirm.
On ST, I just set the dimmer percentage as the value, as the driver converts the values to a %. But I have a feeling on ZHA that it’s presented 1 - 254.
So if you’re set at 1, when you do a long hold down on the paddle, do the lights dim down then stop illuminating?
