I have a basic Hunter fan - AC with not smart features (pull strings for light and fan speeds).
The fan motor is making a hum sound. To eliminate variables, I replaced the Blue switch with a basic toggle on/off and removed the Blue Fan Canopy which resulted in a 70% reduction in fan motor hum. Hunter are going to send me replacements as a hum can be heard if paying attention to sound. But, I am concerned about the BLUE hardware causing more noise?
I wired my canopy module via the load terminal of my 2-1 switch the other day, and people here pointed out that it was not correct. So I re-read the wiring diagram, and of course I was wrong - both the black line (from panel) and black load (to canopy module) should go to the same line terminal of the 2-1 switch… to illustrate:
Thank you much K8gg,I did not have the the same wiring. I re-read the blue light switch instructions again and followed changed the wiring to the diagram you provided. That helped! Thanks!
I am glad I found this thread! I had the same issue. I checked I did connect the canopy via load terminal. Moved to the line terminal and all is working so much better!!! No hum, no light flicker when changing different speeds. Thanks for this post and the solution!!!
