Can I automate my bathroom lights and exhaust?

I’ve got a bathroom exhaust fan that doesn’t have a timer, and I don’t have enough room on the switch plate to put in a dedicated physical timer. Because of this, I started wondering if I can solution this using smart switches… Maybe combine the smart switch with a humidity sensor or just auto-set the automation to turn off after 10 minutes.

Curious to hear thoughts on if this might be possible or if there’s another way I should be tackling the problem.

Dang that’s a lot of switches in a 2-gang!

My first thought, and it’s probably the solution you don’t want to hear, is to cut that box out, widen the opening and put in a 4-gang box. You won’t know how much room you’ll have in the box until you open it up, but there will be a lot of conductors in there which might make it difficult, if not impossible, to tuck up AND add two smart switches, which take up a fair amount of room in the box. Also, boxes are rated in terms of capacity, and I’d be concerned about overloading that box with smart switches in it.

However it shakes out, you’ll need a relay mounted at the Exhaust Blower and Heater, as the draw for that device will exceed the capacity of Inovellis available presently. However, the true on/off switch presently in development should support it.
