Fan canopy module

I currently have a fan on my porch that I am all but certain has no switch and is constantly powered. It is remote-operated, but I can press the buttons a hundred times and the fan doesn’t actually turn on. I even got a replacement receiver for it, and it just doesn’t work reliably at all.

Is a canopy module an option here? If it has all the wires I need, would constant power not just be the same as leaving a switch in the on position?

Foe reference, this is the fan;

Yes. The fan has an AC motor so it is compatible.

You’ll remove the existing remote module and replace it with the canopy module.

Since the power is to the fan box and there is no switch, you can control the fan and light via hub automations or binding if you have an available Zigbee switch.

Plan A was just use my hub, but bindings is a neat idea. There is a switch next to the door to the porch that controls a really dim light that we never use anyway.

Would I be able to independently control fan and light on the same switch with bindings?

I also could probably do some stuff in Home Assistant to configure multi taps on one of my Red switches to talk to the canopy module too, right?

Yes. A common approach is to use the paddle to control the light and the config button to control the fan. Inovelli has a help articles that can get you going with binding and there are HA users here who can help as well.

Yep, those will work as well if you want to control from a Z-Wave switch.
