I don’t know if anyone has mentioned these before, but I just saw someone mention the Leviton Decora Lever Edge outlets in a non-HA forum and thought that it was worth suggesting as a possible feature on new switches/outlets if there is no patent in the way.
I wonder if there’s enough room on the Inovelli switches for those. Since there are 5 terminals on an Inovelli switch and each accepts 2 wires, that’s 10 of those connectors.
Also, the documentation on Leviton’s site indicates that it’s Patent Pending. Assuming it goes through, it’s probably going to be pricey to license.
I would think that the space being used by the current screw and moving plate setup would be about the same as a lever-type system would require.
Does Wago have a USA patent on lever-lock electrical connectors? It seems like there’s a lot of knockoffs out there in the wild…
Decora Edge is a residential consumer-grade product that is a step up from the unsafe back-stab holes on the back of cheap residential outlets. The existing screw clamps on Inovelli products are in my opinion superior, can also be torqued down with a calibrated torque driver, and are what’s used on all better residential, commercial, industrial, and hospital-grade receptacles. Wagos are not universally accepted by professional electricians in the US. Whether or not Decora Edge or a similar connection is in reality inferior to a screw-clamp, the perception is there and that’s enough to rule it out in the residential, and certainly in the commercial, markets.
I agree that the current Inovelli screw clamps are the cat’s meow, but the products are also targeting consumers in a generation that sadly isn’t adapt at using a screwdriver without lefty loosey, righty tighty…
I love Inovelli’s screw clamps!
The worst part of installing the switches was getting the wires out of the old dumb switch push-in connectors.
