Wanted to post a quick note to let you all know that we’re currently looking for a support specialist to help us with our customer support.

Figured I’d reach out to the community first to see if anyone is interested and/or knows anyone that is.

The actual job listing will be posted online, but if you just want to shoot me a PM, I’m happy to discuss it in more detail.

  • Someone who understands at least one of the major hubs (ie: SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant) and is willing to learn at least those three
  • Someone who is proficient at communication via live chat and email
  • Someone who loves and is passionate about home automation

Inovelli is a fast growing home automation (smart home) business, located in Kalamazoo, MI. With sales over $9.0MM, we are one of the top Home Automation Companies in the market today. We specialize in devices that work with some of the largest brands such as: Amazon, Google, Philips, Samsung, Home Assistant, Hubitat, Vera, HomeSeer, etc and sell mainly smart switches, bulbs, sensors and other home automation products catered towards smart home enthusiasts.

With year over year growth, we’re actively looking to hire a Home Automation Support Specialist to help provide the care our customers require. We pride ourselves on our customer service and we’re actively being praised for the way we treat our customers.

About the Position

The Home Automation Support Specialist we’re looking for will manage chats (Instant Messaging), forum questions, social media questions and email inquiries from customers with the possibility of support over the phone. The Home Automation Support Specialist researches and resolves general inquiries within an established timeline while providing a high quality customer service experience and technical support.

Technical Support & Customer Service

  • Phone Calls: Answer phone calls in a reasonable time, to address technical concerns and/or schedule a time for the customer to talk to other team members, while providing an excellent customer experience the entire time
  • Live Chat: Answer live chat requests in a reasonable time and address customer concerns.
  • Emails: Answer emails that come in via our website in a timely manner.
  • Assign tasks in our technical support portal to appropriate department/team member to resolve customer inquiry / issues
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Refurbish/Returns & Shipping Support

  • Work with our Operations Manager to check in returns and/or fix them (with our help – no technical experience needed) to sell as refurbished items.
  • Work with our Operations Manager to ship out products if needed (most sales are handled by Amazon, but some are handled internally)

Other Qualifications

There are just a few other qualifications we’re looking for which the optimal candidate will possess and they are as follows:

  • Passion For Technology: While we know that smart home products are a new field and it’s very unlikely there will be an expert in the area, we’re looking for someone who enjoys learning new technologies and has a knack for home automation
  • Ability to Work in a Startup Environment: One of the most exciting things is working in an environment that’s new and growing rapidly. But we also know that type of environment isn’t for everyone. We love to have fun, and we have an amazing team, and we’re looking for someone who exhibits a bit of the entrepreneurial spirit
  • Leadership Skillset: Part of the fun of working on a small team is that we all wear multiple hats and learn from one another. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to suggest new ways of doing things and who wants to genuinely grow as a person and in their career.

Ideal candidate would have experience with smart home technology such as: smart switches, smart bulbs, etc.
