I wanted to setup my new Inovelli switches to stay in sync with other Inovelli switches, and while thinking it through, I wanted the same “pairing” process I have with a bluetooth headphone or similar. So I made an automation with Claude Code to create Zigbee groups for me. In fairness, this may already exist, probably in a better form, but it was a cool project to spin through.
TL;DR use a long press of the scene button to trigger pairing mode on a switch. Long press the scene button on another switch to bind it to the pairing switch. Repeat as desired to join all the switches to a group.
There’s other nice features, like toggling through the LED bar colors as a group so you can see which group is which.
