How to pair/bind aux

I ordered a Blue Series 2-1 Dimmer and Aux, and they are coming in today so hoping to get some guidance as I’ve been kinda confused reading the guides online.

I have a three way setup and want to replace my 2 dumb switches with the Inovelli’s to control my Hue bulbs in smart bulb mode.

I plan to install the Blue Series on the line side switch and aux on the load side. For what it’s worth, it’s a newer build so neutrals are available.

What is the best way to bind/pair the aux to the Blue Series? Via HomeAssistant? Do I even need to bind it if there’s a traveler?

Thanks!

If you’re using the aux switch and a traveller wire, no binding necessary. Binding would only come into play if you were using a blue switch at each location.

As mentioned, the connection between the Inovelli and the Aux switch is done via the traveler conductor, not binding.

However, since you are are going to control Hue bulbs, you will have to put the Inovelli into the Smart Bulb Mode. This means that the bulbs will be properly fully powered, but you will have to bind them to the Inovelli for control.

In theory you could control the bulbs with automations, but with a dimmer it makes more sense to use binding.
