How to: Setting multiple switch parameters at once via node red

Was gonna put this in home assistant forum, but I know Hubitat has node red as well, maybe others do to??

So my issue was I didnt want to have to keep editing multiple nodes (30+ switches), if I wanted to change parameters of all the switches at the same time.

With help of others, this is what I came up with that works great for me. Pretty much you just have to add all your nodes as a service call (one time thing); then anytime you want to change a parameter on all of them you just open the change node, put in the parameter and the value and then press inject.

Hope this can help someone. (And yes, you could make single service call and write in all the node id’s in that one, but I like to keep my nodes separate so that if for some reason I only wanna change 10 of them, i can just delete the link from the other nodes I dont want to set to the split node.

Have you found any way to pull the config parameters for HA? I would love to figure out how to backup my configs and/or mirror them onto other switches but I have not found a way to pull the config information.

Havent found how to pull config info, no. I know with OZW 1.6, you can easily view the current parameters in the GUI

That will show for powered (mains) devices such as the inovelli switches. For battery devices (sensors, etc.), the 1.6 GUI may show what you WANT them to be, but not necessarily current config since the device may not have come out of sleep yet to receive the updated config.

Trying this out this morning, but think we can do even better!

I am wondering if there is an easier way to do “all” switches at once via array or loop vs split node. Right now I am trying to set 30+ dimmers parameter 13 to purple when snow is in forecast, but don’t want to use the split node and go to 30 separate nodes.

Ideal scenario would be a ~500ms pause between ozw.set_config_parameter service call, but send to all nodes with specific ID or something flexible for adding more in the future.

So I might have a pseudo answer to your problem, but it will still be utilizing the split node.

What I do is put all of my switches into a group. I name it specifically group.inovelli_switches. From there, I use a get entities node to pull all entities from within group.inovelli_switches, then a split node to split out all the different entities behind the scene. I only have I believe 9 switches in my house, but this method works perfectly for me. There’s a slight delay as it goes in order of the switches within the group, but I’m able to set the color on all switches at once with only four nodes. If you had the interest in doing this approach as well, it should cut out solidly 90% of your flow above I’d think.

Here’s one of my subflows as an example. As is, I use this subflow to set all my switches to a blue chase indefinite effect if I reboot my server, (I then use another one to set them all green, then back to normal effect once the servers back up). I like subflows as it helps to hide a lot of the background work in one single node, but this could be exported to work outside of the subflow itself. You’ll just have to either name your group “group.inovelli_switches”, or edit the group name defined in the get entity node to whatever name you choose.
