Leviton Announces New 800-Series Z-Wave Plus Switch and Dimmer

https://leviton.com/company/press-releases/leviton-expands-popular-decora-smart-z-wave-plus-line

The 800-Series Switch controls a variety of load types, with on/off switching up to 15A and 3/4 HP for lights, ceiling fans, exhaust fans, motors, pumps, and more.

Glad to see more Z-wave love, but I’m Not sure what’s new… They already had a Dimmer and Switch, but the Fan was 700. Seems to be the same?

800 series chips with LR

Are you sure? I don’t see any LR references in the product manual or certification data…

I must have mis-read the info, because I see no mention of LR either upon looking closer…

Interesting that they only released the switch and dimmer and not the fan controller, receptacle, plug-in outlet, or plug-in dimmer. (It would appear that the latter two are still 500 chips.)

Hopefully the remaining products get released with 800 chips as opposed to being discontinued when their current stock is depleted.

Isn’t this a dimmer that can handle the larger loads and the fan loads? So this is the 2-1 and the fan switch combined as one switch? Or am I missing something? It is very early for me so I assume I’m just missing something.

Okay I just read the actual linked press release (imagine that!). This is two different switches, not a single switch. I was wondering why people weren’t flipping out about it! That’s what I was missing!

But it’s not new. I’ve had these for weeks now. In fact, the Amazon listing says they were first available in April Amazon.com

Maybe Leviton is trying to make up for their lack of advertising on the Z-Wave front. They definitely push their wireless products more than Z-Wave.

Or maybe they PR came out ahead of the product pages being updated and they are working on those still.

In either case, the fan controller is the only other 4 speed Z-Wave fan controller I’ve found online. :frowning:

The dimmer is good, but forward-phase dimming, so it doesn’t meet some of my applications (one reason that brought me to Inovelli). Also, their add-on dimmer aux switch is a bit weird. You can’t hold up/down to dim, it’s tap-only on the AUX side. On the smart switch side, you can hold as needed.

Also, for anyone wondering in a multiway setup, they require the smart switch be closest to the load. This also affects some of my setups.
