LZW36 Fan+Light w/o using Canopy Module?

I have an LZW36 in a room using both portions of it for that room, but I also have two rooms with ceiling fixtures that use RF remotes, which I have integrated into my smart home using a bond hub.

I was wondering if I could get LZW36 switches for those other two rooms and only wire the wall switch, leaving the canopy modules unused, and simply control the fixtures using hub integrations.

Would not having the canopy module hooked up cause the wall switches to behave strangely, or not at all?

I have tested this scenario, and the switches work fine with the canopy module disconnected. Obviously, there is nothing for the switch to control, but you can still trigger actions based on scenes through your hub.
