I have a odd setup and was wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on whether this is achievable or not.
I have an Innovelli White switch that I’ve just installed and I am hoping to use it strictly in the Smart Bulb mode. The only issue is that, the light that this switch is wired to is completely useless. I want to make it so that this light will never turn on at all and for the switch to only affect smart bulbs.
I haven’t got to poke around into HomeKit / Matter settings at all as I’m still waiting for my matter hub but wasn’t sure if this was doable via the software or if this is doable via wiring?
Well, SBM turns the output on all the time so I don’t think that is what you want. Just don’t connect that useless load to the switch and then you can either bind the switch and smart bulbs or just use your switch as an input to the hub to control the smart bulbs.
You don’t need the Smart Bulb Mode to send multi-taps for automations.
If you want to keep the load wired, turn it off and then enable Local Protection. With that turned on, the paddle will not control the wired load, preventing the switch from turning on the light.
