I have one of these Aqara Light Switches and they are just garbage. The mounting box is in concrete cinder block so I can’t turn it into a double or triple gang. The house was built in the 1940’s so the wiring box is made out of metal, not plastic. The rest of my house I’m using all Inovelli switches, and they are practically bullet proof. No issues at all… even ones mounted in these archaic metal wiring boxes.
This Aqara switch likes to randomly loose its connection from time to time and the only way to get it back in Home Assistant is to pull it out of the wall. I just had to do this yesterday and I’m tired of it. I want an Inovelli switch!
Inovelli has been working on a Zigbee and Z-Wave button controller for more than 2 years now and neither of those have even entered the beta phase. In fact, the first attempt was started in 2020 and then was not completed (and since superseded by the other two projects linked).
I don’t work for Inovelli, but I would be shocked if they wanted to start a Matter/Thread switch without getting either of those closer to delivery. This is a hard problem to do correctly.
Yeah, tried this switch as well and promptly returned it. I have an Insteon i3 in it’s place now, which works just okay. Works really well on Insteon’s network, but really flaky in HA.
