I have five White 2-1 switches in two adjacent rooms of an open first floor and was excited when the top of the v1.0.5 patch notes mentioned: “Enhanced Thread Transmit Power Improved range and reliability for better performance.”
With the ZBT-1 I’m using as a thread border router, my switches were usually getting yellow and rarely green “signal quality” using the test onboard the 2-1. Perhaps with this update I’d get better signal. However, post FW update for all switches every single one now reports low signal quality flashing red. They’re all connected to my HA install and controllable, could the low signal quality be a bug in the new FW release (reports low signal but they’re actually fine)?
I’ve only installed one switch so far. It was showing yellow signal qualtity before the v1.0.5 update, and after - it showed flashing red. But there were no other signs of connection issues - the switch responded to on/off commands pretty instantly.
Trying again 24+ hours later, it’s back to yellow and I haven’t been able to reproduce the flashing red.
Tried restarting the switches via the air gap. Issue persists, every single one responds to signal quality test with flashing red “poor signal”. It’s a low priority issue since they all seem to be connected just fine, but it appears to be the case even for the switch which is about 5ft line of sight from my border router USB dongle and definitely different than before the FW update.
