When the switch is first unboxed I can see that the resistance between the line and load is zero (closed) when the switch is on and overflow when off (open) as expected. When I use the button configuration to switch it to 3-way then no matter on or off both load and traveler are open. Neither screws become closed/short when toggling the switch. When I switch it back to single pole it doesn’t work anymore as a non 3-way switch and it’s not showing a closed circuit between line and load when on. I have to factory reset the switch to get it to work again as a single pole device. I have two switches that show the same behavior so it doesn’t seem like the switch is broken. Especially since I can factory reset to restore correct single pole behavior. Once I change switching modes via the buttons the switch appears seemingly broken.
I want to use a simple dumb switch in a 3 way configuration but can’t seem to get it to work. This is why I started checking the open/close behavior manually using a multimeter. Any idea what is going on and what to expect?
