Zigbee Motion Switch | Project Linus (Blue Series)

We are using a 60 GHz chip. Specifically the LD6002B by Hi-Link.

I’ve attached the spec sheet for reference. I was trying to keep it on the downlow a bit so competitors wouldn’t figure it out, but since we’re closing in on production, it shouldn’t be a problem sharing it as they’ll find out soon enough once it’s in market.

This is straight from the manufacturer, so apologies for the broken English.

In my personal experience, yes, this works when you’re sleeping. I’ve only tested it on adults, however, so I’ll have to see if one of the beta testers is willing to share as I know he had it in his kids room.

One caveat is that you may see some outdated info online for this chip. When it was first introduced to me, I did a quick search and saw some Reddit posts talking about how the range was bad and it could only be mounted on ceilings. This may have been the case when they first launched it, but they launched a firmware update a few months prior to us sourcing the chip and have also made some custom firmware for us. Hi-Link is by far one of the best mmWave manufacturers (and trust me when I say we’ve gone through most, if not all of them unfortunately) and they’re very active in improving it if needed.

Edit: I’m sure some will read through this and expect all features to be possible – I made the same assumption. The challenge is converting a lot of these features into Zigbee and Z-Wave commands as well as what the UI of your hub supports as most hubs do not have the capabilities to have the UI show where you are in the room like it shows in this picture. I can tell you I’ve been in talks with a couple of the hub manufacturers and they are actively testing the switches and want a display, but I can’t disclose that information unfortunately due to an NDA and also I don’t have a timeline. But it is for sure of interest to them.
