@Kaleb_Inovelli that is a fine suggestion, except that I just wasted 15 minutes with Ina, your AI chatbot, and got nowhere. I wish you had a simple, traditional, ticket submission process. Who should I e-mail with the details of my Indiegogo campaign contribution, and my new shipping address?
Hi there,
Please email your ticket in to [email protected], I will look into this issue with our AI bot further. Apologies for the inconvenience on this.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you!
Hi there,
Unfortunately, being able to upgrade your switch from Zigbee to Thread is no longer in the plans due to the space constraints and certification issues across hubs.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks!
@Kaleb_Inovelli Really frustrating to hear. I assumed this was the case when Eric completely went silent on the matter, but frustrating that the rhetoric was that it was totally doable when I purchased and now itās just completely off the table.
Love the brand and products but wonāt be supporting a campaign like this again.
I donāt remember the thread, but it was discussed a bit over the last couple of years. It sounds like the chip maker was guessing when they said it was possible, and later decided it isnāt.
Also, the size of the Matter firmware stack has grown with each version, so the total memory footprint is too large now.
Aqara figured out a really complicated way to do it, but it requires using their dedicated Aqara hub, with special proprietary multistage firmware flashing.
Wirelessly, sure. There was talk about being able to do it wired into the switch regardless of that, which also sounds like theyāre not exploring that anymore either.
As someone who needed a wiring harness to get 8 of my 9 Blue 2-1s updated a while back, there is no way Iād ever do that again voluntarily.
Mad props to @EricM_Inovelli for his above-&-beyond help to make that a success for me, but it was not a fun experience and I hope like heck I never have to do anything like that again.
When itās that or spending $1,500+ more on switches, then Iām more than willing haha
Thanks for the update Courtney! Are there any ballpark estimates for when they will be in ShipBobās possession? I just donāt know if we are talking about a couple of days, weeks, or months before this happens.
What happened to the status tracker on the website? Was previously showing that it was in Mass Production, now itās gone and youāre accepting orders. Should we take this to mean that the Mass Production is nearing completion, or done? Just skipping over the last phases?
My first post seems kind of silly ⦠what exactly do you say you do here, Motion Switch?
Motion sensing is the nominal feature, yet I am struggling to find a definitive reference on what it will do. I can find info on the chip set, frequency, and claims that it will identify sleeping children or toilet sitters. What about range (X, Y degrees or Z depth)? Will it capture presence and motion only, or will it report the position(s) of occupants? Will any reporting be coordinates or a simplified grid? Will a positioning system allow defined regions to be ignored (like the ceiling fan example some time ago)?
I took a chance backing this 28 months ago. It is very possible that I missed some repository of application info in that time. In the home stretch of fulfillment, it would be good to figure out whether I have a good spot for whatever it does.
Iām not sure why its gone, but Iāll have the guys look into it. They are still in MP as far as Iām aware. Once they are done they are being air freighted to ShipBob locations (there will be one warehouse in CA and one in GA) and that process should take up to 2 weeks or less.
I donāt have an end date of when mass production will be finished - this is by far the largest project weāve ever done. Usually MP is ~ 2 weeks but this run is 25,000+ units so my guess is it will take a bit longer for everything to be done.
If you are referring to the product page, the status is still reflected, albeit the format is different.
If these switches work well then Iām sure they will sell like hotcakes! Iāve ordered six for my first trial of them but if they behave well Iāll be replacing most of the light switches in my house with these!
That all said, it would be nice to get some more idea what information will be provided in the motion events etc (specifically for home assistant) so I can plan things out a little more!
My bad, thanks. Just got so used to looking for the blocks and seeing which one was active.
How can I specify that I would like to receive my unit in light almond color? I filed a case to ask this question and the resopnse back was that I could purchase a color kit after the product shipped. This doesnāt seem rightā¦.
Not sure why it doesnāt seem right, but that answer matches what Inovelli posted in this thread not too long ago.
Is there anywhere I can sign up for updates regarding the White Series mmWave switch? My whole home currently has White Series dimmers, but Iāve been having issues with my Aqara P2 Matter-over-Thread PIR motion sensors. Iāll for sure be upgrading the the mmWave version once itās available.
Speaking of upgrading, once the mmWave switches are available Iām guessing thereās not any kind of ātrade-inā program for the switches I already have, right? Iām not sure the demand is very high right now for Matter-over-Thread switches in my local Facebook marketplace for example.
If and when the project becomes active, there will be a āSign Up For Updatesā button on the product page on Inovelli.com. You can also follow the thread, like this one, that will be created here.
