Wait!?!? They didn’t provide an update as promised? I’m shocked! #Sarcasm
I would appreciate the promised update! I just preordered 17 of these things, so I demonstrably don’t hold these update delays against Inovelli, but I’d really appreciate some more insight into the process. If the sensor manufacturer hasn’t had time to add the shield yet that’s fine and not your fault, but I’d like to know.
I have no insight into the details behind the Inovelli supplier/factory, but China is now celebrating Golden Week from Oct. 1st through Oct. 8th, which could mean that the factory is shut down for part or all of that window. So when we get an update there’s the possibility that there’s a week of down time before any production resumes (if it kicked off on 9/28).
Even if the vendor refused to provide an update to Inovelli, we should have still received that as an update.
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to provide a quick update for you all. Production for the mmWave switches has started! We will provide you with the next update once it has been completed. The manufacturer is currently on holiday until the 8th, but they have started the process, and it will resume on the 9th. We are getting close to completing this project and getting the switches out to you! Thank you all for your patience!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Hi–I haven’t been getting emails either, so just came here to see status. Glad to hear we’re in production!
Due to the missing update emails, did I miss the deadline to change my Zigbee preorder to Z-Wave? What’s the process there?
Thanks for the update Kaleb! Is there any timeline for these in Matter/Thread or is that beyond planning at this point?
Hi there,
Yes, we do eventually want to release a White Series mmWave switch, however, that is a bit further down the road and we don’t have a timeline for that at the moment.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks!
From past experiences with the logistics, are there any estimates on when these will be shipping out, assuming no other issues?
Also, are current pre-orders in the batch you’ll receive or are they going to be further out?
Historically a pre-order batch seems to take anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month to ship out completely since Inovelli only has a couple of people who handle that (they only have 5 people total) and there’s usually a large volume of packages that have to go out.
They tried outsourcing shipping and logistics a couple of years ago and that was a complete disaster. It somehow took longer, and the partner company was fulfilling newer orders before the pre-orders which wasn’t great.
We are outsourcing our shipping to ShipBob this time as it would take us months to fulfill everything on our own. Once these are air freighted to ShipBob locations in the US it shouldn’t take them more than a few weeks to do this I would assume since they have hundreds of employees.
I believe we do have enough units to fill all current backorders including the ones on Indiegogo or the ones placed through our website.
Love to hear the forward progress! It seems like a lifetime ago the initial Indiegogo campaign started! Would your shipping plans be similar for Canadian orders as well, or any other plans?
@Courtney_Inovelli @Kaleb_Inovelli ,
Hi Courtney, Hi Kaleb,
Any insight into the question of reallocating Indiegogo orders between Zigbee and Z-Wave. A couple of the updates have made reference to reaching out to those that asked about changing a portion of their order, but I (and I can tell from this thread) and some others have not received anything on that topic.
If you could let us know who we should reach out to and/or how to pay any difference we’d owe you!
(just trying to avoid fulfillment time getting here and ending up with 25 Zigbee units when I wanted to reallocate some to the Z-Wave version in my order).
Thanks!
Jonathan
So it has been a couple of years since I backed this project, and I have since relocated. How can I update my delivery address?
Hi there,
We are working on that best method for tackling switching to different protocols. This will likely be an email sent out from us to submit a form to request the change. We will provide an update for you guys on this when this is ready to go.
Thank you for your patience!
Hi there,
Please reach out to our helpdesk to get your address updated! (Inovelli > Support > Get Help / Open Ticket)
Thanks!
I’m really excited to hear that this is finally getting ready to ship!
I remember that I pre-ordered a bunch of these, but I don’t remember which platform I used, or how many I ordered, or which variant. I’m even struggling to answer the question of “how many do I want”, but that’s on me, not you. Honestly I think it would be a good idea to send out reminder emails to everyone before shipping, saying “This is what you ordered, how much you already paid and where we’re planning to ship it. If you want to make changes, do it [this way] before [this date]” just because it’s been so long.
Hi @Kaleb_Inovelli,
Also, how you’d like us to handle colors.
Right now, the motion switches are available to pre-order on the Inovelli site in multiple colors, but that wasn’t an option for Indiegogo. And currently the separate mmWave colored paddles aren’t available for pre-order.
Thanks!
Hi there,
The mmWave colored paddles aren’t available yet, however, when they are, you will be able to purchase them here at the following link: Switch Color Paddles – Inovelli. Our plan is to have these available before the mmWave switches ship.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you!
Hey @Kaleb_Inovelli , when switching chipsets about a year or two back, there was a lot of talk from Eric about being able to upgrade Zigbee firmware to Thread and that the chipset in these switches would allow that update wirelessly. He said it was on the roadmap to figure this out and deliver this functionality at some point. Obviously the project has had some bumps along the way, but I was hoping that this option was still on the table and something the team would look into and deliver eventually. Is that something still in the plans? Or am I going to have to look at rebuying at some point in the future to get Thread functionality? Thanks!
