Zigbee Motion Switch | Project Linus (Blue Series)

What are the maximum coverage distances? If one of these is in the center of a wall, in a rectangular room, what is the maximum size of the room that a switch would offer complete coverage for?

According to the documentation, the limit for each axis is 600mm. But since that’s less than 2 feet, I’m almost certain they meant 600cm (i.e. 6m), which is a tad less than 20ft and is consistent with other communications. (Don’t know how much of that volume is usable, though. FOV, for example, will eat into it.)

Thank you. Do you happen to know if it sees a ā€œwholeā€ 180°.

In my experience, it does not see 180. More like 120-140. You can definitely sneak up on it from the side.

Yes, it is cm.

Thanks.

Is it basically one large cone-shaped detection zone in the center, and then we add custom interference/exclusion zones around it? Or does it track the subject’s exact location—similar to the LD2450—but just limited to a single zone for now?

Actually, my simpler question is: can it detect motion on the right side but avoid triggering anything on the left side when the sensor is pointed straight ahead from the center?

I pre-ordered several units, and some of my switch locations are tricky. I’m trying to figure out whether I need to cancel a few of them.

The advanced configuration guide seems to say that alot more is supported by the hardware but I think configuration may be a challenge: Blue Series mmWave Presence Sensing Dimmer • Advanced mmWave Configuration | Inovelli Help Center

Specifically, it seems to say that four zones are supported with tracking (including direction and velocity) for up to four people.

Would there be any opportunity to pay for expedited shipping from ShipBob to our final address within the US? These switches are literally the final missing piece before I can pass my electrical inspection, and I’m keen on getting that prior to December 31.

No, that is unfortunately not an option at this time. However if you were an Indiegogo order (which I think you were) you should definitely receive them before then! Anywhere within the US shouldn’t be more than two weeks shipping time once they start which will be within days.

Understood, thank you!

I actually have two orders — 10 via Indiegogo, and then 25 from the web shop earlier this year. Just really worried about the timing of the 25, haha.

:crossed_fingers:

As long as it was placed before Oct (I think Eric said that was the cut off) then it should ship with this batch. I don’t know the speed at which ShipBob works but its definitely faster than if it was just me filling every order by myself! Which is what it normally is…

Did orders start shipping yet?

No, I wish. They are being checked in at the warehouse in California. We just had a limited amount ship here to our warehouse in MI as we have been having a problem with USPS picking up our mail, so we wanted an actual fulfillment company do it this time.

Redacted the names – although I may release them if they take too long so we can all hound them. They gave me the worst stress in the world because I got an email saying everything had arrived last week and when we asked for an update they said they couldn’t find it (hence the, ā€œthe team has successfully located your shipmentā€¦ā€ statement).

Hopefully things will move along quickly. I still think that by having them handle it, the switches would arrive faster than us manually hoping that USPS picks up the packages.

Thanks for the update! And yes, you have forum full ā€œhoundsā€ if you need to release us on them

This is getting exciting and I’m really looking forward to getting these installed and testing them out! If they perform well I think you’ll quickly be having trouble keeping them in stock!

The products have been checked into the California warehouse and customers should start seeing shipping notifications within the next few days.

As a reminder, we are shipping all Indiegogo orders first.

Great news – we just got confirmation that the products were checked in and are loaded into their inventory system.

In an effort to keep this thread ā€œcleanā€, I’m going to keep it open for a few more days and then close it as we’ve successfully completed the project.

I will create a new thread for any issues that arise or enhancements that you’d like to see made related to firmware.

I realize everyone is excited (us too!), but it would be very helpful if we could keep the forums clear of, ā€œI ordered on x date, why haven’t I gotten a shipping update yetā€ type posts and rather reach out to our customer service team.

Otherwise, it quickly turns into a mutiny where people are comparing ship dates and arrival times and it’s not very productive.

On a positive note, I’m pumped to see what you guys all have to say and look forward to seeing this in the field

I’m not sure if this was discussed and I missed it or not, but is there a way that the sensor knows this distance of someone in a space.

For example: I’d want to write a rule that if someone is in the shower (furthest away from the sensor), set a timer to flash the light in X minutes. But I wouldn’t want this rule to run if they’re on the toilet, which is closer to the sensor.
