Hmmm. I know that’s true for the upcoming presence switch, but wasn’t aware it was the case for the on/off. Interestingly, the same document also shows wiring diagrams for dumb switches.
If you look at the first post, it was edited in August 2024 to reflect that dumb switches can’t be used.
@Kaleb_Inovelli You should probably update the wiring diagrams for this switch.
Are these in stock? The store page still has the option to “Pre-order”, but I’ve been seeing posts about customers having them in hand for a few months now. I’m assuming that’s from actual preorders. IIRC there used to be a chart on the product page with the current status, and last I checked, it said that it is in QC, but I can’t find anything about the product status anymore.
I’m not complaining, just wanted to check on the status.
OK, thanks for confirming I wasn’t going crazy. I’d rather not burn up any switches.
Has anyone found these new temp/humidity sensors useful? I haven’t. I bought the these to fix flicker/hum on a few lights, which has been successful.
Probably a Hubitat quirk, but these sensors keep getting added to Apple HomeKit and get auto-grouped with the switch. That prevents direct on/off control. You have to open the switch, tap into the group, then toggle the switch. The HomeKit Integration app lets you deselect the sensors, but they randomly re-appear on your phone even though they are deselected in the hub.
Question: Is it possible to completely disable these sensors within the Hubitat driver?
I think it will always show as having that ability but will not get updates when turned off. It does look like you disabled the humidity and temp so they should not show in homekit itself.
Did you end up receiving them? I ordered a 5 pack too about a week ago and have yet to receive and they are still “ordered”, wondering on the timeline you experienced.
If I ever received an unopened return I sometimes threw them in random orders that would come in. That’s why a select few have received 1-2 switches but 99% of back orders are still needing to be fulfilled.
I appreciate the response, I wasn’t aware of them being out of stock as long as they have been, I read this thread where someone mentioned they received them, and took that as an indication that the website was likely inaccurate, lesson learned wrong on me for assuming that something a random person on the internet says is true haha.
I spoke with Kaleb via email and he said their ETA was end of November. I had to cancel this order, but will possibly re-order them when they do come back into stock.
I notice that in the original project info, outlets were mentioned but I don’t see anything about it in later discussion. Did these end up being okay to use for switched outlets? It’s not clear to me from the product details if this is the case.
Yes, these are fine for switched outlets. I have five of them controlling the switched outlet in each of four bedroom s plus the living room. I guess the only kind of obvious caveat is that the switch is only rated for what I would call normal switched outlets. If you somehow managed to get a switch on a 220 outlet, this switch won’t work for that.
