As I prepare to replace a second switch…I’m just now sure how to proceed (as there isn’t a wiring diagram that matches ).
This is the second switch (next to the ZVM31-SN). This switch controls a set of patio lights. The red wire is what is throwing me…as there isn’t a second switch (3-way), I’m not sure how to proceed.
This looks like a standard 2-way. Don’t be thrown off by the red conductor. I am guessing that this is sending both a constant hot and the switched hot downstream to the next box. When you do that, you use the white for the neutral, the black for the constant hot and the red for the switched hot.
If you look at the switch, you will see that at the top of the switch, there is one black conductor attached to the screw and the other to the back stab hole. Those two are connected together electrically. One of those is going to be the incoming hot. Which one really doesn’t matter because you will connect both conductors to the two holes of the line terminal on the Inovelli. Plus, since you have already wired a switch in this box, you should know where the hot is coming from.
I would confirm by tracing the black conductors and confirming that one of them belongs to the same 3-wire as the red conductor. Also make sure that one of those blacks is a constant hot.
If that’s the case then the red will be your load. Don’t forget to pigtail a neutral.
