I can add pictures if needed but just need to understand the best approach.
Junction Box 1:
Three Wire Romex to ceiling fan
Three Wire Romex to Junction Box 2.
misc other lines, including power.
Junction Box 2:
Three wire Romex to junction Box 1.
misc other lines, including power.
Ceiling Box:
Line to Junction Box 1.
I want to control the light and fan with a single switch in each junction box. What’s the most straightforward option here? One 2-1 dimmer in both boxes, only one wired to the lights and the second wired for power, but automating controls via HK or some such?
I don’t think I can wire the 2-1 switch for three way and control both fan and light, can I?
Just to make sure I’m understanding, you want each switch (1 per box) to control both the light and the fan?
The switch can only have one wired load. So if you want each to control both, I think the best course if to control the fan via the wired connection and the light via a smart relay (or 1/2 of the Inovelli fan canopy module) in the fan canopy. Use and multi-taps and/or the config button to control the light relay via automations.
On the other hand, if you wanted one switch in one box for the fan and the other switch in the other box for the light, that might be doable, since you have a 3-wire from the primary box to the light.
