Most bathroom exhaust fans state they are DC motors. I desire to use a BLUE to turn on/off this fan with my HA automations.
The Inovelli Blue Fan-Switch states AC Motors only. But I have been reading in a few areas here that the Blue Fan-Switches do in fact work with DC motor exhaust fans if they are used in Smart mode.
After more reading,… it appears that the Blue Fan switch will support DC motors if the switch is providing 100% full power. It so, I am fine with that…
The Blue fan switch is not rated for DC motors. The Blue On/Off switch under development is going to be a true relay-based switch that will support DC fan loads.
There is a big difference between “is rated for” and “I got it to work”. If you choose the latter and use the switch in an installation for which it is not rated, then you do so at your own peril. No one at Inovelli will tell you that it is okay to use the fan switch with a DC fan because they just can’t do that.
