So this may be a bit confusing but I have a On/Off switch in a wall with my ceiling fan as the load. I did this so that I can turn off the power to the ceiling fan if I need to, but I don’t want it to accidentally be done since it is a smart fan and will almost never need to be turned off.
The tricky part is that I have 3 smart bulbs in the room also. Is it possible to use the switch to control the smart bulbs and NOT the internal relay? Particularly tie the LED strip to also show the state of the bulbs and not the internal relay
Switch set to dimmer and smart bulb mode.
Added the lamps and endpoint 1 of the switch to a “lamp” group.
Bound endpoint 2 on/off and level to the group.
On off works, but setting the brightness from the paddle doesn’t. It changes the LED bar, but the lamp brightness doesn’t change… any help? Thanks
Smart bulb mode locks the relay on so you can use the switch as a remote. The air gap pull out can still be used to disconnect power to the fan.
Once that is done you can either use the switch as a remote and set up remote rules, or if you have the zigbee version and zigbee bulbs, you can put the bulbs and switch in a zigbee group with zigbee commands, then set group bind#1 to the group and then holding the paddle will dim.
After doing that i updated all my rules to use the group instead of the bulbs directly, and now the switch controls them like you would expect, and any rules to turn them on also turn on the switch and sets to the same level.
