Blue Fan Switch - dumb fan

This is probably a stupid question, my apologies… I found answers that are close to my question but I wanted to spell it out so I’m sure I understand:

I’d like to use this switch to control a dumb fan, one that has a pull cord that adjusts the speed of the fan… the kind that you never know what speed its on and you overshoot “off” at least once…

My preferred behavior (in a perfect world) would probably be double tap down turns it off, double tap up sets it to max, and single clicks go up/down 20%,25%, or 33% (I dont mind how big the “steps” are) Is this something the switches do? (I assume they can with some automations in HA), and what is the default behavior if I don’t use any automations… ?

Thank you!

This is definitely something a Fan switch can do but you’ll only get 3 speeds, 33%, 66% & 100%. The fan motor must be an induction motor like in most ceiling fans and not shaded pole like in exhaust fans.

You can program the switch to start the fan at High or Low and single tap to step the speed up or down.

Settable via parameters:
P55 and P56 allow you to set the double-tap up and down values
P120 - Single tap behavior allows you to select the “new behavior” where a single tap cycles through the levels.

It may not be the same speed that your pull switch has … your pull switch will give certain voltage and then the switch may give different… for example on one of my fans the voltage from the fan pull switch are like 92 for medium / 80 for low… the blue switch is lower, so the fan is slower. There is no way to adjust the output voltage on the blue switch (at least that I am aware)…

I just posted a thread about adjusting it and looks like there might be a way. Im waiting for the response for the way to configure it on HA
