Oops, I named the file wrong on the server. It should work now. If the 1.06 won’t update I will have to PM you some additional info, but the 1.05 one should update for sure.
Thanks for the video. I just tried, and the issue did recreate for me. I’ll look at the adapter code when i have a chance and see if I can figure out why it’s doing that.
Thanks for reporting that you could duplicate the status issue I am experiencing! That alone is refreshing as I have been contemplating blowing away Z2M and starting over.
Some observations:
I was able to update to 1.07, no change with Z2M status updates, HOWEVER big kudos as the function of the switch and the load is fantastic! Behaves just as a I had hoped.
1.07 works well in ZHA, both fan and light entity present and work as expected.
In trying to diagnose the status issue I’m experiencing in Z2M; I installed and experimented a bit with MQTT Explorer. The only “status” that consistently (and correctly) updates is “fan_state” to either off or on. Somewhat oddly to me, “state” never seems to update. The problem child seems to be “fan_mode” as it does not update from button presses on the switch, but I can sometimes make it update by changing “fan_mode” in HA. When “fan_mode is reading high, medium or low, the switch LED’s display as they should.
It might be worth it to try the beta release of z2m as there are a ton of converter changes in there. Thinking about it that is the version I am using so maybe that is why it is working for me? If you are using Hassos I think the process of switching is pretty easy. You just have to find zigbee2mqtt in the add on store and enable it but disable the other one. Copy your configuration (in yaml) to edge and start it up.
I updated Zigbee2Mqtt to 1.36.0-1 this evening. Getting closer, here is another video.
Basically everything is working for me EXCEPT:
- Low speed is not recognized when cycling speeds; low is reported as fan_state: on, fan_mode: smart in Z2M, percentage: null in HA
- double tap down changes to low! fan_state:on, fan_mode:low in Z2M, percentage:33% in HA
I am curious to know which is now production, Z2M is telling me there is an OTA update for the Fan Switches but I still see 1.04 as the production release.
I am trying to avoid beta… No fans in TX as heat is upon us is like suicide. lol

You should wait a bit as the update has only been used by a handful of people. I’ve been trying to get it released to Hubitat folks for more exposure, but haven’t heard from them on when they will post it. My guess is that 1.07 is likely good, but if there isn’t some specific feature you are waiting on it is probably good to wait.
Thanks for your reply.
@EricM_Inovelli Does Zigbee2MQTT have the changes for controlling the fan speed of the VZM36 using the config button? I am not seeing endpoint 3 available for bindings.
I am using Zigbee2MQTT dev/edge and firmware 1.07 on the switch.
You have to remove it and re-add it to get endpoint 3 to show up.
Also, make sure you change FanControlMode on the fan switch to either cycle or multi-tap.
Thanks! Removing and re-adding it did the trick. I love how canopy module and switch work together!
I know right!? I’m actually really excited about the capability to control the module from a single switch and think the implementation is awesome.
Do you know when this change will be promoted?
I have been holding off from v1.07 as it does not work well under the stable release of Z2M.
I think that 1.07 is good with prod z2m. At least there isn’t anything in 1.07 that is different from 1.04 as far as z2m functionality goes. There is a bug with prod z2m for the vzm36 which I think people got confused with the vzm35 though. Is there something specific with 1.07 & prod z2m that you want me to check?
Not really, I saw a few things here and there about fan modes and thought it was related to the vzm35 which is what I have, I like to stay updated with firmware’s under my devices so if its safe to update I think ill give it a go.
By the way you guys are awesome.
Awesome product!
Hi
after moving to 1.07 one device lost main entity “fan.name”
I tried pretty much everything (including factory reset), but I can’t
get this entity back.
What I am doing wrong?
This is another one (which is ok)
I am not sure, but it sounds like you have tried what I would suggest. Removing from Z2M and then adding back did not make it reappear? I wonder if there is anything in the log that shows what is happening.
I did everything, including removing from Z2M.
Believe it or not, it came back after recent HA core update.
Go figure…
