Blue Series Fan Switch Load Always Hot Even When Smart Mode Is Off

Hello!

I was hoping to reach out to the community about an issue I’ve been having with the Blue Series Fan Switches. I have opened a Support Ticket - but, maybe someone else has found a fix to this they could share.

The first fan switch I installed constantly sent 120V to the fan when off; Smart Mode disabled. I troubleshooted with support and the switch was replaced - all is good. Since then, I’ve installed five more fan switches (and six canopy modules as a couple of switches control multiple fans). All is good. Those that control one fan work fine; those that need to be in Smart Mode, work fine too.

But, the switch I installed today is sending 122V to the load even when off (Smart Mode off). I had another switch handy, so I installed it - same results.

My line and load are not mixed up; I’ve double-checked the fans are set to “load only”, “dimmer/3-speed”, etc. Using Home Assistant, ZHA.

Anyone else experienced a similar issue? Or, have a suggestion for troubleshooting?

Thank You

Do you have a neutral installed? I believe in non neutral mode, the fan switch (like the dimmers) has to leak current to the load to power itself.

Hi Rohan, thanks for responding.

Yes, it’s wired with a neutral.

Can you turn the fan off from the hub but not from the paddle? If that is the case, then make sure that you do not have local control disabled.

What is connected as the load?

Thanks to all who responded, much appreciated.

I updated the firmware and the issue went away. Probably should have checked for a FM update right-off-the-bat.
