Switching from the Blue Series Dimmer to a Blue Series Dimmer with presence. I have a no neutral setup that uses 2 bypasses for the smart bulbs to function. After moving to the new dimmer I have the typical when the smart bulbs turn off the inovelli switch resets going cyan, green(I think) and resetting.
Do I go and try 3xbypasses due to this new switch or am I out of luck and need to go back to the old dimmer without presence? Any reports of people needing more bypasses with the new switch? I searched and did not see anything.
The new switch definitely needs more power to run the mmWave radio. You could try adding additional bypasses to see if that gives it a sufficient amount of power.
Alternatively, you could rewire at the light box to send neutral and line back to the switch (on the existing wiring) and have the lights and the switch wired always hot.
@rohan is referring to re-wiring by changing the light box connections to send a hot and neutral to the switch box over the existing wiring, leaving the light box hot full time. I’m guessing you think rewiring means having an electrician run an additional conductor, but that’s not what he means.
I’m aware that you can feed it down from the light back to the switch box. It’s very old, knob-and-tube wiring, and an electrician refused to work on it without that chunk of the wiring.
