Blue series switches dropping off mesh

**I am seeing a trend of half of the below switches dropping off the mesh, the switch in HA grey and I have to repair half the time to switch back to HA. Not sure why this is happening, I have a very stable zigbee mesh in the house.

Total: 11 Inovelli switches** (6× VZM32-SN, 5× VZM31-SN)

  • All running ZHA via Sonoff Zigbee Dongle+ V2

  • VZM32-SN: firmware 0x01030102

  • VZM31-SN: firmware 0x01020304

  • The “greying out” in HA means entities show as unavailable — Zigbee devices lost their mesh connection

I have also been having this issue for about the last 6 weeks. We went on vacation, and almost half the switches went unavailable during that time. When I got back I had to pull the air gap to reboot them. Since then barely a week goes by before I have a half a dozen in that state. I’m getting close to the point that I’m just going to pull the air gap on about a quarter of them every weekend to see if that helps. About the only difference between my setup and yours is that I’m using the Zigbee radio built into the HA Yellow.

Same here

Actually, it started happening now for all my blue series Inovelli switches. all other zigbee devices (100+) work without any issues at all. Also, all switches are updated using the latest version

I have a second antenna that is Z2M , starting to move them over to z2m and see if the issue is resolved , so far I have not noticed a switch fall off of z2m

Annoying that these switches fall off of zha, glad to hear I am not alone …lol

Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 is the antenna I have on z2m

Does the quirks load on your stitches for zha ? I haven’t tried removing the quirk yet

This is actually being discussed over on the VZM31-SN firmware changelog thread. Anecdotally there seem to be a bunch of ZHA related sightings of this but none on Z2M. I’m on Z2M now and my 9 have been good

The problem is a code change in ZHA quirks so Z2M is unaffected. I will once again suggest migrating to Z2M if able. It’s much more stable, exposes more functionality and is much faster for the community and Inovelli to get changes made to the converters.

Is there any kind of seamless migration tool from ZHA to Z2M? I just can’t manually recreate every Zigbee device and then rewrite all the automations and dashboards I have. It’s easier to just reboot the switches periodically.

You could get a second antenna dedicated to Z2m and just put your Inovelli on it , that is what I have done so far

This is what I have been doing to make it easier , move one device at a time then to protect your automations. In Z2M, name the device and check the box to also rename in Home Assistant — that keeps entity IDs stable so automations and dashboards don’t break. Matching the friendly name alone doesn’t guarantee HA reuses the old entity ID, so check the rename box.

I’m not aware of one, but I feel like this is something that Claude can probably build.
