I apologize if this issue was been raised before. I’ve searched and could not find an answer to it.
I have several hue bulbs connected via blue switches, VZM31-SN, in smart bulb mode. The switches work physically. I can tap up to turn on, tap down to turn off. The issue is the button in my Google home dashboard, home assistant dashboard, and hubitat dashboard cannot control the switch. The buttons themselves will show as being “on” or “off” but the state of the bulbs do not change. I have to use the hue app to turn them on or off if I cannot physically hit the switch. Is there something I am overlooking?
So when a switch is in the Smart Bulb Mode, it is powering the bulb at full power, and the paddle will not turn the power to the bulb on or off. You can then address the bulbs to turn them on and off or set the dim level either by binding them to the switch or by using automations.
So I’m not sure what you mean the “switches work physically”. If you mean that the switches are making and breaking power to the bulbs, then they are not in the Smart Bulb Mode.
In the Smart Bulb Mode, they are not supposed to. There really isn’t anything to control on the switch, except the LED bar, maybe. The on/off/dim function for the bulbs is accomplished by addressing the bulbs, not the switch. The switch in the SBM is powering the bulbs 100% continuously, so you do not address it to affect the bulbs.
