Blues going inactive

I am waiting for Hubitat to respond about the fan switch update and then will chase the 2-1. Usually takes them a few days.

Awesome thanks, my lazy ass keeps leaving lights on and having to get out of bed to turn them off lol.

Weirdest thing. Heard someone else disconnected power at the breaker to resolv, gave it a shot and flipped breaker at 1pm sat. Woke up Sunday morning and internet was funky (Internet was working, but not working on some devices such as the TV) Rebooted the networking cabinet, and everything has been online for 24 hours plus now

What version of hubitat (s/w) are you running? I haven’t upgrade to the latest Hubitat release in case they wanted any logs…apparently they don’t so I might as well upgrade.

I’m done a few CB open/shut cycles to restore some devices, but those still disconnected after 12 hours.

I’m on 2.3.8.122.

@EricM_Inovelli Well, it happened again starting sometime yesterday. A few of my switches didn’t turn off last night, and I was too tired to diagnose, and feared it was the same problem rearing its ugly head again. And I was right.

Many if not all of the 45+ blue series switches in my home are no longer connected to the mesh. They do not respond to commands sent by Hubitat, and those that are directly bound to other switches and/or Hue lights will not control those lights/switches.

Whatever the problem is, it occurs on the blue 2-1’s and the blue fan switches.

It isn’t a general Zigbee issue, as other Zigbee devices such as my Hue button controllers and various brands of temp/humidity sensors still work, and all my Hue bulbs and downlights still respond to commands sent from Hubitat.

However, I’m not necessarily letting Hubitat off the hook as there have been numerous reports of Zigbee issues with the C8 hub, and to my knowledge there’s been little transparency as to what the underlying issues were, and whether they’ve been fixed.

At this point I guess I’m going to cycle the main breaker and hope the switches come back online like they did the last time. Things have been working fine for several weeks now, and I have no idea what caused this to happen again. I’m on the latest Hubitat firmware, so if it’s a Hubitat issue it has not been fixed.

I’m at the point where I’m starting to consider ripping stuff out. I really don’t want to dump Hubitat, despite all the reported Zigbee problems and lack of clarity around them. Despite the considerable expense, I’ve considered replacing most of the Inovelli blues with reds. Undecided but I’m getting close to the point of doing something

They know the issue, it’s something to do with the keep alive with the blues and hubitat, not sure where issue lies but that is the issue. They have a beta driver for the fans that resolved the issue without power cycling though it was pilled shortly after release for a reason I’m not sure of.

Well, hopefully they know what the issue is, and why it only seemingly affects a small number of users, and why it eventually affects every single blue device.

It’s one thing to have a device not working now and then but I can’t have the entire house going offline on its own, especially as we’re away for months at a time during the spring and summer and I can’t power cycle these switches (or the entire house) remotely to fix things.

Unless a definitive fix is coming soon, I may very well replace a lot of the blues with reds in the near future. At least, those that control outdoor lights and a few indoor lights that give the appearance that someone is home. Not sure what else to do at this point.

@EricM_Inovelli did anything ever happen with this? I managed to fix mine few months back but looks like issue has poped back up now. Started occuring again after hubitat crashed and needed to be restored to a backup, broke about 4 days later. Last time it broke about 3 weeks after a update.

We put a preventative measure in the firmware. I think it was 2.17 or 2.18. Which version are you running?

During the issue I updated one switch to the following and air gapped it. Issue persisted.

I lost track of this message, but it looks like you are on an older firmware version. What happens when you try to update to the latest?

At the end of the article there are instructions on how to update the state variable to show the firmware version. It should be 2.18 if you have the latest.
