I purchased the fan canopy module( VZM36) and the Fan switch(VZM35-SN). I have both showing up in Z2M. I followed the steps for binding the paddle to the lights and the config button to the fan speed control in cycle mode. That worked as described. I would prefer to keep my smart bulbs in the light fixture of the fan. I would like to configure the paddle to control the fan speeds. Tap up then the fan cycles up in speed and every tap of the down paddle the speed cycles down. I would use the config button in automations to toggle the smart bulbs. How do I configure this in Z2M?
I haven’t tried, but I suspect it would work if you followed the instructions but switched endpoint 2 for 3 on the VZM35 directions (and 3 for 2).
For the smart bulbs, you’ll also have to do something a bit different. Putting them in a Zigbee group instead of the VZM36 light endpoint in what they call the “Fan Light” group (you can call it the same thing to make the instructions less confusing or pick a descriptive name for yourself) should work, assuming your bulbs work with Zigbee binding as they should. The endpoint is probably also 1 for the bulbs, but if not, you may need to consult documentation (from the vendor in the unlikely event they have it, or Zigbee2MQTT has oddities for many device it supports noted in their compatibility docs).
I thought the same thing about changing the endpoint. I tried that just previous to writing my question. When I hit the up paddle the fan came on but I could not turn it off or change the speed despite what button I pushed. So I am wondering if something in my settings needs to be changed.
As far as the smart bulbs I just used an automation to toggle them when the config button is pressed because they are not Zigbee bulbs.
You won’t get the tap up/tap down speed control using the paddle. You could operate it like a dimmer and as the level varies you hit each level that matches a speed, like 1-33%=low, 34-66%=medium and 67-99%=high or something like that.
