Controlling Smart Blinds (Zigbee binding?)

Hi community!

I’m looking for suggestions on ways people control blinds.

Some context first. Our house rooms originally had three sets of switches: one for an outlet, one for lights, one for ceiling fans. Being that we don’t need to be using regular lamps (outlet) since we have smart lights, I’ve managed to replace these with the appropriate switches (on/off, dimmer, fan respectively). As you’d expect, this is leaving me with a spare switch on each room that I can use for blinds.

Here’s where I need some help. So far we’ve been really happy with binding zigbee lights to the dimmers so that we can control them even when the internet is down.
What I’m looking for is, has anyone managed to do something similar when dealing with zigbee blinds? At the moment, I’m able to control them via automations when the switch is pressed but that only allows me to preset opened percentages; and, of course, depends on home assistant being active.

It would be great if I could use the spare switch to control the blinds in a similar manner to the lights by binding them!

Any suggestions are appreciated. If automations are my only option, I can deal with it but I suspect I might not be the only one looking for something like this. Thanks in advance!

What blinds do you have? The ones from Smartwings / Yoolax don’t seem to support binding. FWIW, they do have a remote that you can use on the off chance that your Home Assistant instance is down.

Interesting. Are there any brands that support binding? I am using SmartWings unfortunately.

I have a remote but it’s not the most “appealing”, especially for multiple rooms/floors.

I’ve not seen any yet personally.

I’ve not needed to use the remote more than ~7 days in a 6 year period. If you’re having very frequent Home Assistant outages, it might be worth looking at reliability on that side instead.
