Customize level specifically for VZM35-SN fan low / medium / high?

I have the VZM35-SN switch installed with two ceiling fans, in serial. When running at “high”, they are quite fast. Medium is significantly slower, and almost feels like “low” without the switch. And then Low is basically the same as medium.

I’ve tried changing the minimum and maximum fan speed settings, but they don’t seem to work in the way I want. For example, the fans will be at full speed at ~180 or higher, but then below that they are much slower.

Is there anything I can do to set specific levels individually for low / medium / high? That way, I could set “low” to be something like 120, medium to 160, high to 190?

I hope you mean to say that they are wired in parallel to each other as the load on the switch.

Unfortunately not. Unlike a dimmer, a fan switch only has the 3 speeds it comes with because of the two capacitors that they use for slow and medium speed. If you have multiple fans on the same switch, low and medium will always be slower than if you had one fan per switch. High will always be full speed since it bypasses the capacitors.

I hope you mean to say that they are wired in parallel to each other as the load on the switch.

:person_facepalming: yep, that exactly.

Thank you for your explanation, that explains things perfectly!
