Fan Compatibility

My wife just had me install a Harbor Breeze remote controlled fan BRD60OSB6LR. The fan it replaced was controlled by two dumb on/off switches, one for fan, one for light. The remote control module on this fan has the exact same wires as the Blue Fan Canopy module. The way I have it currently installed is the former fan switch is completely bypassed. The fan’s remote module is wired to the dumb light switch, then the fan and light are wired to the fan’s included remote module.

The instruction manual for the fan has this note:

NOTE: The remote control included with this fan
meets the following requirements:
a. Not for use with solid state fans.
b. Electrical rating: 120V / 60 Hz;
motor amps:1.25 MAX.
Should you choose to use a different remote control
with this fan, it must also meet these same
requirements.

I’m guessing that the included remote module’s electrical outputs are virtually identical to the Blue Canopy Module.

Since I have two dumb switches with wiring to the fan box, I’m thinking I could remove the included remote module, and wire it to a Blue Fan Switch, and a Blue Smart Dimmer for the light. No need for a canopy module since I have room for separate switches.

Does the note in the manual about using a different compatible remote give enough information for me to know if the Blue Fan Switch and Blue Smart Dimmer would be able to safely control this fan?

Thanks

The Blue fan switch is rated for 2.5A, so you’re good there. The most important thing to pay attention to when evaluating is the motor type. The Blue fan switch is only compatible with AC motors. According to the specs published for that fan on the Lowes site, your fan has an AC motor, so you are good there as well.

You should be good with the dimmer for the lights as well.

I think you are aware, but you’ll have to remove or wire around the module directly to the fan and light conductors.

Thank you for the confirmation.

Yes, as I was wiring the fan I was thinking about this the whole time having installed two blue canopy modules in the past week. The remote module is way bigger than the blue fan canopy module, so I’ll be glad to remove it.

I just need to convince the wife that wall control is better than remote control.
