Hello Community - I’m in the process of installing about 40+ Inovelli White switches. I got about half way through when one of my dimmers was constantly on. I tried pulling the air gap, but that didn’t seem to cut the power (I need to take a closer look - perhaps I didn’t pull it out enough). Anyway, I did a factory reset and I attempted to add it back to HomeKit and it failed multiple times. I think it might be a ghost switch in iOS.
Question: what is the easiest way to find the switch’s serial number? I took the wall plate off, but I only see the pairing code, not a serial number. Since I have a ton of matter devices in HomeKit, I don’t want to randomly remove them. I was going to create a list of all the serial numbers using Home Assistant thinking I could find it that way, but I was wondering if anyone here had other, faster suggestions to identify the switch to remove from settings > general > matter devices.
Can’t answer your question, but regarding the air gap, if you find that it does not cut the power when you double-check it, that suggests that you have wired incorrectly.
I plan on installing the rest of my switches today. I will test out how the air gap works when I install the next one. I have a feeling I was being too gentle with pulling out the air gap. I have some extras coming today so if I break one, I won’t be completely benched.
So when I attempted to use the air gap initially, I didn’t pull it out enough. I had read that the movement was small so I only pulled it out probably 1/8 of an inch, if that much. I tested pulling out the air gap on one of my switches still waiting to be installed and I see it pulls out much farther than I did.
As for the serial numbers, I got them all from Home Assistant and was able to identify my 3 switches for a 4-way that I factory reset. I will definitely keep all the serial numbers in the future as Apple has no identification and at least half the time it told me the switch was unreachable when it is working fine.
As an aside, I’m enjoying Home Assistant more and more as I compare the two platforms. I was planning on using HomeKit as my front end, but I might have to build some HA dashboards. Issues like this with no identifiers on a list of switches just saps time and doesn’t really make sense unless you think someone would have 1 matter switch.
